Editorial Reviews

Few bands have managed to survive 30 years together, much less continue to craft chart-toppers for the duration of such a period. Aerosmith are a prime example of that longevity, and this collection -- unlike previous compendiums of hits from the Beantown Boys -- covers the entire span of that career. Stretching back to the cocksure strut of early favorites like "Mama Kin" and "Walk This Way" (which is represented in both its original form and the Run-D.M.C.-fortified remake), O Yeah! gives plenty of play to the edge that prompted many folks to dub Steven Tyler and company America's answer to the Stones. The double-disc set also spotlights the quintet's undying way with a power ballad, culling tunes like "Janie's Got a Gun" and "Amazing" from more recent times. The double-disc collection is rounded out by a pair of freshly recorded numbers -- "Girls of Summer" and "Lay It Down" -- that bode very well for the future of Boston's most potent export. October 05, 2009: This 2 disc package is really a must have if you are looking for some classic Aerosmith. Disc 1 has the old Aero feel, with the polished studio boarding, lound where it needs to be and supporting everywere else. Disc 2 also rocks, and it gets into some of the tunes with more reflective lyrics. The only change I would make is adding a few more songs, al least "No More, No More" and "Eat the Rich" but I'm sure the label wanted to give some incentive to buy other discs as well! All hail to America's Stones! xo ;)
