About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Featuring most of Swedish pop icon ABBA's number one international hits, Number Ones is a stellar single-disc collection that well represents what made the group so popular. While there are superb double-disc collections like Definitive Collection and the exhaustive box set Thank You for the Music for fans who want more than a single-disc compilation can offer, Number Ones equals the standard Gold: Greatest Hits in both song choice and listenability. Here you get such classic Europop hits as "Dancing Queen," "Knowing Me, Knowing You," "Waterloo," "Take a Chance on Me," "Mamma Mia," and others. In fact, if you are simply looking for the most recognizable ABBA songs all in one place, you cannot do better than this. Matt Collar, All Music Guide

May 07, 2009: I became a fan of ABBA in 2000 when I got their greatest hits collection as a present. I ended up listening to it so much that it started skipping. So earlier this year I saw what B had in it's ABBA collection and I saw this album. I saw it had different songs on it then in "Gold: Greatest Hits." This is just as good as Gold. I like all the songs on this album especially "Gimme Gimme Gimme." It could be because Madonna sampled it in her song "Hung Up" and I got addicted to the music from it. It's just such a great and original song! Other favorites are "Mama Mia!" and "The Name of The Game." If you don't have any of ABBA's other collections then check this one out. "Gold" is good too!

I Also Recommend: Beatles One.

March 16, 2009: If you like ABBA, this is a great group of songs. For those who have not heard them, you owe it to yourself to listen. One topic of possible interest is the song writer's focus on the 4 count beat, such as you hear in Chiquitita (Chi-Qui-ti-ta) and Take a Chance on Me (Take-a-chance-on). You can even hear it in Can You Hear the Drums Fernando if you listen for it. But that's all a side novelty. The main thing is that this is great writing, great vocal and instrumental performance, and a great choice of songs.
