About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

It's hard to believe that 25 years have passed since this lil' ol' band from Georgia first made the leap from the thrift store to the stage. But this two-CD set -- a decided step up, quality-wise, from the single-disc best-of that hit stores some years back -- provides a lovingly detailed look back at the full reign of the B-girls and -boys. The set, which takes its name from a campy early-'60s "adult" flick, hops through huge hits like “Love Shack” and “Rock Lobster” but also opens the vaults wide enough to allow some oddities to escape. Beginning with early songs like "52 Girls" and "Dance This Mess Around" (both of which struck listeners like lightning bolts from an alternate universe when they were first unleashed in the late '70s), the collection bops and frugs among the high points of the band's career. That leaves plenty of room for dizzy pop trifles such as "Party Out of Bounds" and "Private Idaho" but also casts some light on more pastoral, pretty ballads (like "She Brakes for Rainbows" and the sway-along "Roam"). Live versions of "Quiche Lorraine” and "Whammy Kiss" give ample evidence of the band's party-starting abilities, while a 1992 remix of "Is That You, Mo-Dean?" sets them on a deep interstellar voyage, thanks to Moby's production wizardry. The 50-page booklet features plenty of pictures of the band’s costume drama as well as liner notes from Michael Azerrad and the B-52’s themselves. Nude on the Moon is guaranteed to have you doing all 16 dances in no time flat. David Sprague, Barnes & Noble

September 12, 2009: Are you a B-52'S fan? Then this collection is a MUST for you. Play it in the car and you'll about dance yourself out of the drivers seat as if the Devil were in YOUR car!! From '52 Girls' to 'Love Shack', the hits keep coming and taking you back to the glory days of New Wave music. And with a few live performances of faves like 'Quiche Lorraine' you may have to run out for their latest disc and concert tour. Been missing The B - 52's? With this, you'll never 'Roam' again!

August 07, 2004: This group still sounds as fresh and wacky as when I first heard them back in the late 70's & early 80's. At that time it was just so different to what I was into but this group opened my (21 year old mind - back in 79') to the party fun music that was in store. I'd gotten away from this group for many years but I did get to see the 52's up at the Hampton Beach Club Casino last month 7-28-04 and they took us all on a memorable journey of some of their best and it was such a party on the beach!(well pretty close to the beach!) Standout performances of so many of these featured songs. I just wish this group would do some live recordings just to have later done the road (a nice double cd full of their best) I've read they are in the middle of pre-production on a new collection of music for 2005!!!!! that would be great! Thanks Cindy for your autograph after the show, actually it was a handshake,a friend got your last autograph you gave! From Planet Claire to the Love Shack, it was party heaven! Your music is back!!! This collection just sounds perfect.
