Earning frequent stylistic comparisons to Celtic vocalist Enya, Norway-born chanteuse Sissel (born Sissel Kyrkjebo) first attained popularity in the west thanks to her performances at the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer. Sissel also gains a footnote as one of the few pop music performers who interprets numbers in a fluid combination of Norwegian, English and Latin, which imparts her with an aura of distinction. As originally broadcast on PBS, the concert recording Northern Lights finds the Scandinavian artist delivering a live performance set before an audience with special guest José Carreras, held at the UNESCO World Heritage Village in Røros, Norway. ~ Nathan Southern, All Movie Guide Barnes & Noble
