About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

French singer and songwriter Keren Ann holed up in New York after her lauded American debut, Not Going Anywhere, absorbing a great deal of Velvet Underground vibes and Chelsea Hotel mythology, to judge from the sound of Nolita. But the sparse atmospherics are perfumed with a French airiness that makes it more refreshing than retread. Interpolating French reflections such as "Que n' ai-je?" with the guitar-and-fiddle blues of "Chelsea Burns" makes for a unique sort of memento, where America and New York are the exotic world and Europe the quotidian. Keren Ann's dreamy, not-quite-singing voice makes the multilingual set uniformly soothing. Mark Schwartz, Barnes & Noble

August 05, 2005: Just happened upon this gem while surfing around checking out music. I wasn't sure what I was getting, even though listening to the samples. This collection has got some of the most unusal combinations of sounds and beautifully sung words, both in French and English right out of the 60's. I guess if you like the textures of say a Jane Siberry, a dash of Julie Cruise and that French, chills & all works so well together. The songs are all different and mesmerising to say the least. I had heard some of the song "La forme et le lond" originally, this is the one that peaked my interest but from start to finish some fresh out of the ordinary music.
