Editorial Reviews

Never fear -- the Giants are here! Long a renowned act in the alt-rock world, They Might Be Giants have applied their familiar wacky lyrics and whimsical tunes to their first kids' album. The Brooklyn-based rockers have already tested their mettle with songs for the younger set, contributing the irresistible theme "Boss of Me" to the hit TV series Malcolm in the Middle and winning a Grammy for their efforts. Their recipe is equally successful on the playful No! Visit "Fibber Island," where "We strum rubber guitars/Our friends live on Mars/And we sew buttons on cars." Or jump into the "Robot Parade," where androids obey their youthful masters. The title track will soon be an anthem for all toddlers, who will be "Finger pointing/Eyebrows low/Mouth in the shape of the letter O" -- both kids and their parents will find themselves singing along to this catchy little ditty. Another tune with cross-generational appeal is "Clap Your Hands," on which frontmen John Flansburgh and John Linnell encourage their audience to dance, with rousing lines like "Clap your hands/Stomp your feet/Jump in the air." And to keep little ones busy and entertained, these creative Giants have included an imagination-sparking enhanced program. Both PC and Mac compatible, it includes nifty features such as animated companions to the songs that offer a special "sing-along" bar with lyrics. No! delights the senses and celebrates the joy of imagination, the beauty of language, and the serious need to be silly. Amy Barkat, Barnes & Noble

October 28, 2006: We listen to satellite radio and really enjoy the mix of new and classic music and the variety of slow and silly. They Might be Giants simply does not belong on the same station as Sesame Street, Laurie Berkner, etc. My five year old asked me if I changed the station and then asked me to turn it off until "that song" was over.

September 28, 2003: This is a great CD loaded with upbeat music. I find myself rocking out to it when the kids are not even in the car. I love that the words are meaningful and silly at the same time. My four kids and I just love it!!!! It also has three great slow songs so if you think your kids are going to fall asleep you can jump to the slow songs.
