About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Bon Jovi had perfected a formula for hard pop/rock by the time of New Jersey, concentrating on singalong choruses sung over and over again, frequently by a rough, extensively overdubbed chorus, producing an effect not unlike what these songs sounded like in the arenas and stadiums where they were most often heard. The lyrics had that typical pop twist -- although they nominally expressed romantic commitment, sentiments such as "Lay Your Hands on Me" and "I'll Be There for You" worked equally well as a means for the band and its audience to reaffirm their affection for each other. The only thing that marred the perfection of this communion was Jon Bon Jovi's continuing obsession with a certain predecessor from his home state; at times, he seemed to be trying to recreate Born To Run using cheaper materials. June 14, 2004: This album shows the evolution of Bon Jovi's sound. There are a lot of brutal rockers (Lay your hands on me, Bad Medicine, Homebound train...), great pop/metal hybrids (Born to be my baby, 99 in the shade), "western-oriented" songs (Stick to your guns, Ride cowboy ride), great power ballads (Living in sin, I'll be there for you) and epic rockers that remains "Springsteen 70's" (Blood on blood, Wild is the wind). That eclecticism is nice amazing and wonderful. In other words, "New Jersey" is the best album of Jon, Richie and Co.

August 10, 2002: This is the fourth Bon Jovi's album. The tittle is very good, a nice tribute to New Jersey, the place where they were born. There are wonderful ballads, as ''Living in Sin'', ''I'll Be There For you'' and ''Wild Is The Wind''. ''Ride Cowboy Ride'' is a little song, but even so it's a beautiful song. Something I cant' understand is why it plays so low! It's one of my faves in this album. ''Love For Sale'' is very funny too, with their acoustic guitars. ''Blood on Blood'' is my favourite too. Musically it sounds very good, and the lyrics are wonderful, talking 'bout the time when you are teen and you are learning things not so good, but things that made part of our own lives. This is a good song for you think about your life, your childhood, the wonder years that will never come back. ''Lay Your Hands On Me'', ''Bad Medicine'' and ''Born To Be My Baby'' are great hard rock songs. You have to check these on! Everybody that likes rock and roll has to have this album on his CD's collection! Bon Jovi rocks forever!
