About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Believe the title: Wynonna sounds revitalized on NEW DAY DAWNING, dealing the strongest set of songs and most potent vocal performances since her early solo albums. Coproducing with three top-flight Nashville producers, Wy delivers again and again on an album that gets better with each listening. "Can't Nobody Love You Like I Do" gives her an opportunity to roll out her bluesy, sultry side, while "I've Got Your Love" has a fatback Memphis feel that lets Judd settle into a deep, funky groove as she preaches tenderly about the soul-sustaining power of love. On a similar note, her feathery falsetto rendering of Joni Mitchell's "Help Me" suggests a vulnerability the oldest Judd daughter hasn't readily admitted to on record. Indicative of her newfound vitality, she offers a delicate, heart-tugging plea for understanding in the wake of a love affair gone horribly wrong on "Learning to Live with Love Again." This is Wynonna at her most self-revealing, and most courageous. NEW DAY DAWNING isn't an album; it's an autobiography. And it makes for a gripping experience. David McGee, Barnes & Noble
