About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

For his third album following the popular new age efforts Northern Seascape and Cape of Good Hope, pianist Jim Wilson turns to Christmas music, employing his arranging skills to create cool, restrained versions of holiday standards with his acoustic piano up front, discreetly supported by percussion and Irish instruments. He is also joined by several guests, notably singers Dan Fogelberg ("God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen"), Stephen Bishop ("Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas"), and Marilyn Martin (with whom he makes his singing debut on a duet of the original "My First Christmas With You"). Saxophonist Everette Harp also sits in, notably on a second "Bonus Radio Mix" of Joni Mitchell's "River," which is not exactly a Christmas song but has an appropriately wintry feel. This is attractive, melodic music that should serve as a good background to the mellower moments of holiday celebrations. William Ruhlmann, All Music Guide
