About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

On their third album -- and first to be released simultaneously in Europe and the U.S. -- Opeth continues to refine their epic, progressive death metal style, still replete with harmonized leads and acoustic passages. My Arms, Your Hearse flows logically from one composition to the next, and the mostly long songs have enough variation in texture and mood to hold the listener's interest fairly consistently. July 05, 2005: On their third opus, Opeth begin to develop their trademark sound (with the coming of their incredible drummer Martin Lopez) to acheive one of their most startling installments. Brutal tracks like "April Ethereal" and "Demon of the fall" are matched with beautiful acoustic interludes (see Madrigal) and a gorgeous clean guitar song titled "Credence". "My arms your hearse" also features ather great epic tracks like "When", which is clearly the predecessor to superb tracks from latter Opeth releases (see Blackwater Park's "The Drapery Falls"). A must own for every Opeth fan, and for every extreme metal fan.
