About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

311's debut album, Music, is an infectious mix of funk metal and hip-hop. While the band fails to come up with a consistently solid batch of songs, their raw energy makes up for the lack of strong songwriting. Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide

August 21, 2003: This album is phenomenal. It's basically just balls out rock...no effects, no nothing! It is a great album and a great place to start for anyone interested. It bears similarity to newer releases like Evolver and Transistor, but with a much more unrefined sound. Being a drummer, I love Chad Sexton's overly technical and wondefully played drum beats! He makes it seem so easy. Top notch!

August 14, 2002: If you need an album to just sit and back to jam to, then this one's it! It leans more towards hip hop rock more than any of 311s other albums, but I love it just the same. Songs like Paradise and Do You Right are my absolute favorites, while Freak Out, Visit, Unity, Hydroponic, and Feels So Good rock out so well it's no wonder they're always played at their concerts! Fans of diverse, and awesome music should add 311 to their lives for their own personal enjoyment and well being. To live without positivity is to be without love...and that just sucks.
