About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Farina's hypnotic dancefloor jazz creates a trippy background mix and an enjoyable look at some promising new artists for those willing to listen. That being said, it's not a seamless mix, containing some jarring transitions. Tracks that don't fade into the background are the international hit single by Blue Boy, "Remember Me," and Mr. Electric Triangle's "Bossa Nova." As much as he forges a unique, mellow sound, he is inescapably influenced by DJs like Gilles Peterson. Ryan Randall Goble, All Music Guide

November 26, 2002: This is one of the most finely crafted albums I own -- it suceeds in creating a mood that progresses throughout the entire work. It is a successful mix of jazz, hip hop, and spirituals, always with a mellow, easy style that seems natural and flows intuitively from track to track. I have a version in which the track order is somewhat altered... it is a continous mix through tracks 10-9-12-2-11-1-5-4-6-3-8. Track 7 is omitted. I suppose this is disc 2 of the set, although I just have the one. At any rate, I would highly recommend this album to anyone interested in DJ mixes, trip hop, hip hop, or jazz. I keep coming back to it, even after many years of ownership.
