This is a delightful children's story about magic bells and flutes. Sarah and the dragon find their way from the Queen of the Night's realm to Sarastro's castle. Together they help Prince Tamino find Princess Pamina, and the bird-man Pageno find his Papagena. ~ MusD, All Music Guide All Music Guide

July 29, 2008: My 4 year old granddaughter absolutely loves this CD. She listens to it over and over. The fact that a kid is in the story, the serpent and the magic all appeal to her. Great for kids.

February 09, 2007: I got this for my 6-year old daughter for Christmas. She had seen the opera (in German) and we had kept listening to some of the music, so I knew she was open to it. This telling has the advantage (if you want an American kid to listen) of being in English, and of mixing a young girl into the action. On top of this it is sung in English, and of course the music is Mozart, his beautiful melodies and compelling sense of drama. My daughter and my 2-year-old have been listening to this practically non-stop for over a month. This is a wonderful recording for kids. Of course, to fit the program to kid-friendliness and CD-length they have had to cut much music and shorten much of what they have kept. I just wish they had kept more of the Queen of the Night's aria.
