About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Modus Operandi is all about music that switches tempo, sits on the offbeat, and offers up kickin' beats for your butt. "The Hidden Camera," Photek's killer debut single, is a layered affair driven by a staccato break-beat, an assured bass, and an occasional piano tinkle, all steadied by a spaced-out synth. "Smoke Rings" offers no respite -- it's just an out-and-out tuneful assault on the senses, a clean and crisp break-beat unhindered by any instrument save for a sampled vocal. The title track, a primal three-chord bass riff and a tap-dancing piano, mellows things a little; however, this lasts only until the next tune, "KJZ," which is another guaranteed floor filler. Modus Operandi shows us Photek's method all right. Chiedo Nkwocha, Barnes & Noble
