About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Midnight Blue: The Encore Collection contains ten well-known songs by MOR singer/songwriter Melissa Manchester. Included are the original hit versions of "Don't Cry Out Loud," "You Should Hear How She Talks About You," and "Midnight Blue" recorded for Arista in the late '70s and early '80s. The casual listener will be pleased with the choice of material, but the collector who wants more should search the bins for the 19-track collection Essence of Melissa Manchester. January 25, 2007: I just received this CD. I used to have the LP. Great songs, Midnight Blue, Don't Cry Out Loud, Someone to Watch Over Me, all unique renditions of classic songs. A great addition to any music library.

August 02, 2001: Although most of these songs have appeared on other Melissa Manchester collections, this set collects 8 of her best known songs and 2 Gershwin songs at a low price. Graphics and CD info is minor, but the sound quality is great! The songs include Midnight Blue, Don't Cry Out Loud, Come In From The Rain (the original 1976 version from Better Days & Happy Endings), Through The Eyes Of Love (Theme From Ice Castles -LP version), Just You And I, Whenever I Call You Friend, My Boyfriend's Back (single version), You Should Hear How She Talks About You, Someone To Watch Over Me (different string arraingement than the original version on Hey Ricky) and I Can't Get Started (From 1974's Bright Eyes LP, first time on CD). I hope there will be more!
