Teen pop genie Christina Aguilera proves there's no limit to her magic on Mi Reflejo, acknowledging her Latin roots with her first album sung entirely in Spanish. All of her biggest English-language hits are here, plus several new tunes, rendered in a flawless castellano that would surely do her grandmother proud - especially since, by her own admission, Aguilera doesn't speak Spanish fluently. But whether she's jumping on the bandwagon or just trying to make her abuelos happy, there's no denying her vocal talent, which lends each cut a substance lacking in most of her fellow teen queens' productions. By the same token, her influences are readily apparent, from the ardent crooning of Boyz II Men and Mariah Carey to La India's feisty salsa-soul growl. Producer Rudy Pérez, known for his first-rate work with Latina lovelies Jaci Velásquez and Millie, adds his Midas touch throughout. Highlights include the merry romp of "Ven Conmigo," ("Come On Over") the funky grind-and-burn of "Una Mujer" ("What a Girl Wants"), and the salsafied flutter of the freshly-baked "Cuando No Es Contigo." Christina's got a sweet way with slower fare too, from the tender balladry of "Pero Me Acuerdo de Tí" to her soaring new duet with Puerto Rican heartthrob Luis Fonsi on "Si No Te Hubiera Conocido" ("If We Had Never Met"). In short, this is irresistible pop that transcends all language barriers. Abraham Velez, Barnes & Noble
