Listeners who are only familiar with Conway Twitty's laid-back country hits of the '70s and '80s, will be surprised by the raucous, Elvis inspired rockabilly he recorded in the '50s. The fidelity on this Master Classics release is lacking, and some of the performances are taken from second generation sources, but is still recommended as the material is top-notch rockabilly. For further examination, with superior sound quality, of early Conway Twitty, track down Mercury's single-disc Best of Conway Twitty, Vol. 1: The Rockin' Years. Les Campbell, All Music Guide
