About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Mas Canciones is a thoroughly enjoyable collection of Spanish and Mexican songs that is arguably stronger than its predecessor, since Ronstadt sounds more comfortable with the material than ever before. Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide

October 25, 2000: For those of you who have never heard Mariachi music, this (and Canciones de mi Padre) album is a MUST HAVE! After hearing these songs, I felt like writing to Linda and asking her to sing all the mariachi songs available, in her future CD's. I have heard male and female vocalists do ''falsetto,'' but none as good as Linda. Her voice is so powerful, and as rich as that of Lola Beltran or Lucha Villa. However, Linda is the modern-day version of a female ''mariachi'' singer. I highly recommend her two spanish albums. She sings about courtship, love, the death of a loved one. If you sit and listen to all the words of her songs, she will take you to an old village in Mexico during the 1800's; or she'll have you visualizing such beautiful things, or even a bullfighter trying to gain the favor of his sweetheart! I sit in my music room trying to sing and memorize these songs; so far I've worn out two sets of these records; however, today I'm purchasing two more sets.
