About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

After eight years of career and five solo albums, the band Skank changes pace, abandoning the formula that made them internationally known ("Garota Nacional," with its sexually spiced lyrics, brass arrangements, and reggae). Influences here are the Beach Boys, surf guitar, the Kinks, the Sonics, Asian Dub Foundation, Mano Negra, Freddy Fresh, the French electronic music duo Air (especially), and Lords of Acid. This CD marks the new contract with Sony, for which they will record other four CDs. The album is centered on drum'n'bass with a mixture of electronics and 1960s music. Interested in the market of camp guitar, there is a bigger presence of songs (canções) and melodies. The album is a more faithful result of the band's own wishes, having being produced in the home studio located in Haroldo's mother's house, where they focused 24 hours per day and were free from the producers' interference. The album has new material with new partnerships: Rosa with Edgard Scandurra ("Água e Fogo"), Ira!, Fausto Fawcett ("A Balada do Amor Inabalável"), and Lô Borges ("A Última Guerra"). "Rebelião" has the guitar of Sepultura's Andreas Kisser. Alvaro Neder, All Music Guide
