About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Mannheim Steamroller leader Chip Davis has achieved major fame with his new age ensemble, particularly because of the Steamroller's enormously successful Christmas album series. Now Davis puts the unmistakable Steamroller stamp on classic Disney songs, and the result is an easy-listening album with the potential for kid appeal. The word "potential" is used because many of these should-be-familiar tunes, in particular "Hakuna Matata," are virtually unrecognizable once they get the full Mannheim Steamroller treatment. But as always, you have to admire Davis's creativity, and his signature blend of synthesizers and real orchestral instruments serve these tunes nicely. "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" is a cheery toe-tapper with icy synth flourishes; "The Ballad of Davy Crockett" coalesces around Native American shaken percussion and bird whistles, eventually settling into a favorite, driving Mannheim rhythm (you've heard it on their "Deck the Halls"). The melody of "When You Wish Upon a Star" is cleverly interspersed with that of "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star"; "Mickey Mouse March" makes a surprisingly pretty ballad, with guest vocals from original head Mouseketeer (and song composer) Jimmy Dodd. All in all, a decidedly pleasant listening experience. Moira McCormick, Barnes & Noble

May 09, 2009: This CD is great for nostalgia among grownup Mouseketeers. It's upbeat. It's also great fun listening to it with children - helping them get to know and sing Disney songs and playing "Name that Tune".

June 17, 2008: I am a huge disney fan and I love Manheim as well. At first I was unsure of the cd but it quickly found it's way into my heart. The haunting rendition of Mickey Mouse March is worth the cd on it's own. My dad, whom is not one to cry, cry's when he hears it. As I am writing it is sending chill's down my spine.
