Editorial Reviews

Mamma Mia! is a new musical that uses the music of Abba to float an enchanting fairy-tale about a young bride-to-be's efforts to find her long-lost father. A smash-hit in London, this whispy and sweet story is put over with punch and pizzazz on this rapturous original cast album. Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus, the creative team behind the superstar Swedish quartet, have dressed up their show with nearly two-dozen 1970s classics, all engagingly performed and arranged to highlight the youthful and talented cast. Fiesty Siobhan McCarthy belts out the highlights "The Winner Takes It All," "S.O.S." and "Super Trouper" while "Dancing Queen," "Voulez-Vous" and "Gimme Gimme Gimme" turn the spotlight on the energetic ensemble. Mamma Mia!'s score of familiar ear-candy will be a delightful greatest hits collection for some and a bunch of terrific contemporary show songs to others. Either way you'll say "I Do I Do I Do" to this delicious confection. David Cohen, Barnes & Noble

March 16, 2009: I am a teacher and I play MAMA MIA on the way to and from work as well as in my room during my planning period. The music is dynamic and uplifting. The entire cast pays great homage to the original ABBA group. There is a thrill and energy that just flows through the speakers. I heartily recommend the MAMA MIA CD.
