About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Jump Little Children's first full-length under the umbrella of Atlantic has the band moving away from their ragged Irish indie folk to concentrate on a louder, more up-front alternative rock/pop approach. Produced by Brad Jones (Matthew Sweet, Imperial Drag), there's an accent on swelling, instantly gracious choruses, but the band seems a bit too tentative in their new direction to infuse the songs with the self-belief necessary for the music to rise above American indie convention. A distortion-filled "Strawberry Fields Forever" ("Violent Dreams") and the XTC by way of Beck "Habit" are clever, and two of the strongest songs of their career. It's the apparent influence of touring with Seven Mary Three and Rusted Root or having "Cathedrals" played in IKEA that seems to have done the most damage. ~ Dean Carlson, All Music Guide All Music Guide

August 19, 2004: I owe my whole genre switching period to Jump Little Children. Listening to their album Magazine has completely blown mainstream radio out of the water. Whenever people are talking to their friends about the great new single by *insert stupid pop star here* I'm like "nothing compares to my good friends Jump!" Their music is brilliantly artistic and their lyrics are poetic without seemingly trying. Jay is a genius! I highly recommend all of their albums.

February 07, 2002: Magazine was by far and away one of my most favorite albums, although I may be biased being a Jump fan for a while now. However, any and every time I have ever played Magazine for someone they have always gone nuts over it. It has a track or four for everyone. The whole CD is fabulous. However, Jump has moved on to new and exciting things with the recent release of Vertigo. This CD contains some of the best lyrics I've heard on a rock album in a long while. Generally one must look to classic rock or the beginnings of grunge for this much introspection. Jump, as always, paints a picture with words and song that never cease to blow audiences away. And you haven't lived until you've seen them live. I highly recommend Vertigo as much as I would recommend Magazine, Licorice Tea Demos, and Buzz (previous albums). And if you've never seen them before, look around...they will most likely be rocking through your town...and you didn't even know it.
