About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

When it was recorded, nobody knew that MTV Unplugged would be 10,000 Maniacs' last album with Natalie Merchant. As it stands, it's a quiet, gentle way for her to bow out, offering no new revelations but several solid versions of the group's signature songs (mainly concentrating on Our Time in Eden) and a cover of Patti Smith's "Because the Night." It's nothing new, but for fans it's a graceful way to say goodbye. Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide

June 13, 2009: Natalie Merchant is one of the most talented vocalists that I have ever encountered. This live performance is great. I highly recommend this to all fans of Merchant and 10,000 Maniacs.

September 07, 2002: Yes, it may have focused too much on one cd (Our Time in Eden), and it may have been the unwitting swan song, but it deserves placement in any Maniacs' fan collection. The songs are performed well (I'd say better than the studio versions) and it's a CD you'll begin to crave.
