About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Lovely Creatures finds Bob Schneider doing what he does best: ruminating over failed relationships, courting new ones, and pitching his baritone vocals over a mixed bag of pop/rock, folk, and mambo arrangements. Those who love Schneider's versatility have a lot to explore here, as the wide-ranging track list rarely dwells on one genre. The album's two Latin-inspired tracks, "Bombanaza" and "Tarantula," find room for brassy horns and feverish hand percussion, while songs like "The Bringdown" and "Your Head Holds Gold, Your Heart Holds Diamonds" channel the beach-bum strut of Jack Johnson. The midtempo numbers are where the songwriter truly sounds like himself, though, whether he's dueting with Patty Griffin on the gorgeously sad "Changing Your Mind," or chasing after mainstream radio with "40 Dogs (Like Romeo and Juliet)." What great songs AND what good variety!by MusicLovinLady

November 10, 2009: I've been listening to this CD on Bob's website where it streams for free, but today I'm buying the CD because I can't stand another minute of not being able to play these songs in my car. For the quintessential spendthrift, this is a huge statement because my practical mind says, "Why buy it? It's free to listen to on-line?" but my heart says, "No! No! Must have this CD in my possession." It's that good!

MMMM!!! Just wait until you hear those Latin grooves on Tarantula and Bombananza. And "The Bring Down" is just so melodic and it really sticks in your head.

I saw Bob live in concert a couple weeks ago and it was just absolutely wonderful. It was one of those nights where I just thanked God for giving this man such incredible talent. And, not just Bob, but his whole band - it was a great show ... energetic, fun, passionate ... just the total package.

I think this CD might be the one that launches him over the top!
