About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

In an age of sonic bombardment and in-your-face delivery, Diana Krall won over a new audience the old-fashioned way: through understatement. A light-toned, subtle singer with a sure feel for swing, Krall is an equally subtle and swinging pianist. And she knows exactly the perfect material to handle. Dave Frishberg's "Peel Me a Grape" and Percy Mayfield's "Lost Mind" are given just the right touch of knowing wit, while such seasoned standards as, "I Don't Stand a Ghost of a Chance with You" and "You're Getting to Be a Habit with Me" get recharged by Krall's sincerity and effervescence. This Canadian transplant models her groups on those of the Nat King Cole trios of the early 1940s, with guitar replacing drums. LOVE SCENES benefits from the presence of the masterful bassist Christian McBride, who joins Krall's regular guitarist, the highly accomplished Russell Malone. By keeping things temperate and in control, Krall quietly seduces the listener. Steve Futterman, Barnes & Noble

October 06, 2003: This probably the best cd Krall has relased.I loved it so much, that I had to dance to it for my solo.At the age of 12,Krall has opened the doors to different types of jazz for me.

January 29, 2002: Krall recaptures the true essence of the classics complete with the elegance we seem to have lost in this day and age. Sultry voice, smooth and cool, and what a knock-out!!! Keep it coming Diana!
