About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

With the majestic Brit pop of Oasis and Blur sagging into post-millennial bloat, it is only a matter of time before a new crop of shambling rockers take over the shop. Manchester's Doves are a trio of ex-techno producers with a flair for the cinematic, from the piano-bar noir of "Here It Comes" to the Eastern tripadelica of "The Cedar Room." A suite of remarkably strong songs ranging from melancholy dirges to transcendent pop invokes fellow Mancunians My Bloody Valentine, the Smiths, and even New Order, making Lost Souls a most auspicious debut. Mark Schwartz, Barnes & Noble

May 13, 2005: My first listen of "Catch the Sun" sold me on this album. It just happened to be that all of the other tracks were similarly astounding. The best time to listen to this album is near sunset, while stoking the barbecue, and sipping down a nice pale ale. I bought this album in 2001 and still enjoy it today. My 8-year old daughter loves to sing along too.

March 09, 2004: That pretty much sums up my review. I bought this disc three wks ago and I just can't get it out of the CD player! The songs cut through to the inner recesses of my mind but never seem to leave. Like Pink Floyd may sound like without the bombast but with John Cale/Lou Reed production.
