Ok, Who Was around 15 or 16 years old when Joe Jackson came out with his "look sharp" album dressed in the suit and hat? well let me tell you my story! i'm from new jersey. i was in neptune sr. high school. the station to listen to for the best music at that time was WPIX, NY city! yea, Disco was out, but it was these so called, "new wavers" that really had me goin'!! it was something about their music that was sooooooooooo real! so passionate!!! so really you!!! Joe Jackson was no exception!! There was way too many "new wave" groups to say who was the best!! Joe's band was great. His bass player was phenominal! Joe's band rocked just as hard live as it did in the studio. I don't know who wrote the lyrics to those songs, but he, she, or they were the epitome of what a lyricists should be! The musical arrangement was also well. Joe Jackson's music was the type of music you want to bottle up and have for ever!! Twenty years later, I was still hearing songs off this album in "Teenage Moviesa and television shows"! Today is Christmas 2005, I came to bn.com to buy a book and and had change left over. I decided to try to buy this album! I brought it in the past, but with moving around and time, it gets misplaced. I really hate telling my age, and I really hate sounding like a whus, but I'll probably shed a few tears when I put my headphones on and listen to "Look Sharp"! Don't tell anybody, but i use to cut the last period in Neptune High, run across what use to be called "sand hill" to my house, up to my room to hear Joe Jackson! here's one of the lyrics from my songs (i'm an independent writer), "now seventy nine was my favorite year, the creators band, and new wave was here. how i ran home from school, and up the steps, into my room, to hear PIX. Joe Jackson was maxin, the hits didn't cease. and i dont like Sting, because he left the Po leeese. Debby Harry and Blonde, the B-52's, Elvis Costello, XTC, Squeeze and the News. Yea, those were the dayz, memories won't fade, but now i'm a man, maturin with age. Out of my life, I'm glad to have heard, LL's voice as he rhymed with those words". I wrote those lyrics around 1989 (10 years after the Joe Jackson era). I put "Radio" by LL Cool J and "Look Sharp" by Joe Jackson in the same category. Those albums really addressed what those 15-17 year old teenagers were going through! It would be hard for me to choose, as I am a real big Classic LL fan, but if I had to choose, it'd be Joe Jackson!!! look sharp, sunday news, is she really going out with him, aw man i can't wait till this CD is in my hands. I'll be 15 again!! Hey and guess what, Today my lead singer from my band, the Creators stopped by today for Christmas 20005!! It was in February 1979 that he and I formed the Band!! IS THIS DE JA VU OR WHAT?
