July 25, 2008: Whether it's the Soul, Funk, Jazz or Hip-Hop, there is something in Mutlu's music that will resonate in your heart, mind and soul. Mutlu is a singer, songwriter and musician of uncommon caliber and soul. He can often be seen playing solo or with a back-up band in and around Philadelphia. Although born and raised in Philadelphia, Mutlu possesses strong Turkish roots, as he is the first member of his family born in the United States. Growing up in Center City, Mutlu submersed himself in the music scene at an early age, exposing himself to the city's diverse genres of music. These influences are clearly evident in his songs, which are an eclectic blend of the city's sounds, interwoven with elements of world music, creating a vibe that is truly unique on today's music scene. Livin' It has an intentional Philly-centricity with performances on the album from Daryl Hall, Amos Lee, G. Love, Raheem DeVaughn, Mercedes Martinez, and Sharon Little as well as songwriting collaborations with Amos Lee, Ben Arnold, Scot Sax, Mike Ojike McHenry and Tony Reyes. Mutlu uses repetitive chord sequences to launch gloriously loose vocal improvisations. His soulful vibe draws comparisons to such legendary performers as Stevie Wonder, Al Green and Prince. From pop, to hip-hop, to a soulful love ballad, there is something in Mutlu's music for everyone, which is quite remarkable given the amount of artists currently dotting the modern music landscape.
