About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

From a fan’s perspective, the best thing about Diana Krall’s live performances is that she presents the same cool-calm-and-collected demeanor that has endeared her recordings to throngs of listeners. No, the pianist-singer doesn’t get wild-and-wooly on stage; she knows what she’s great at and delivers it with confidence and style. This sumptuous performance, which finds Krall supported by a first-rate jazz unit (including drummer Jeff Hamilton and bassist John Clayton) and a full string orchestra, is a lovely recital of standards, many of which have come to be associated with Krall herself. Her live renditions exhibit the measured, ever-in-control, yet (at the appropriate times) slyly sexy interpretations that have become a Krall trademark. She proves herself no slouch at the piano, either. A fun bonus is a studio recording of Billy Joel’s anthem “Just the Way You Are,” sporting a Michael Brecker tenor solo, which Krall cut for the film Guru. William Pearl, Barnes & Noble

September 14, 2009: This CD served as my introduction to Diana Krall. She is a jazzy, with-it, talented and versatile singer who integrates well with her band. She is a combination of jazz with funky string as well as soft, romantic and sexy with the track: The Look of Love. I was impressed with her natural strength for jazz solo, but most of all her obvious appreciation for her accompianment. Diana and her band members could not be a better fit. I enjoyed this CD immensely, however couldn't help but notice that future CDs have alot of repeats of the same songs. I would recommend this particular CD for starters as the ones which came after are redundant. I have made a suggestion for another performer who also integrates beautifully with his back-up, or better to say, a percussionist who left a legacy of big band jazz behind him. Diana's voice is tantamount to his drums. . .

I Also Recommend: The Best of Buddy Rich.

April 22, 2003: The combination of Diana Krall's piano brillance and her sultry voice, make you want to go back again and again to listen to the lyrics and melody of these 'classic' songs--also, her accompanyment is outstanding--the 'best' I have heard in a long time.
