About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Live from Across the Pond finds blues guitarist Robert Cray and his band performing live over seven nights in May 2005 at the Royal Albert Hall in London. A journeyman guitarist with a knack for mixing a classic electric blues sound with various contemporary pop sounds, Cray has remained a consistent if underappreciated artist since his 1986 crossover/breakthrough album Strong Persuader. Recorded on the heels of the similarly stellar studio effort Twenty, this two-disc set features Cray and co. in superb form moving from straight-up blues, to soul-infused pop and gutbucket ballads. For longtime fans and newcomers alike, Live from Across the Pond works well as both an encapsulation and introduction to Cray's unique, eclectic blues sound. Matt Collar, All Music Guide

January 05, 2008: This CD is truly his best recording by far. I have been a fan since the 80's, when I worked at Larry Blakes in Berkeley, where the other members of his band were the house band for the club. These guys have been playing together for decades and they have never sounded better!! Cray's vocals and guitar work are exceptional on this recording, and where do I even begin about Jim, Kevin and Karl??

September 14, 2006: You can't really appreciate the Robert Cray Band until you see and hear them live. This release will open the eyes of many people, and win many over. It is recorded beautiully. The playing is stunning, listen to it with headphones. The drums and bass work between Karl and Kevin is incredible. Jim shines on the keys and Robert, well, he's Robert Cray. The best singer, songwriter and especially guitartist in the music business. Eric doesn't just have anybody open for him. Get this CD.
