About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

By 1997, it had become clear to Social Distortion that their relationship with 550 (formerly Epic Records) had not worked out and that it was time to move back to the independents. They wrestled themselves free from the contract and signed with Time Bomb Recordings. Their first album for the label was Live at the Roxy, a blistering set that offered a career summation and effectively set the band up for a new beginning. No matter how good Social Distortion records are -- and they're usually fairly strong -- the band performs with more energy and passion on-stage, and Live at the Roxy captures the intensity of their live show. It doesn't have any surprises, but the set list is solid and the performance's thrilling, which makes it a must for dedicated fans. Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide

January 30, 2002: Having always believed that the label ''punk'' was more about doing what you believed in and having a raw/energetic spirit, Social D is truly one of the last real punk bands. One of the very few bands who has truly gotten better with each album, this is both a great retrospective of their career and a good capture of the live Social D experience. This is a solid album that will withstand countless listens and, as with previous albums, a bittersweet reminder of how much Dennis will always be missed.

October 19, 2000: This album sure does capture the magic and intensity of a live Social D concert. All the classics are here...early stuff like ''Mommy's Little Monster'' and ''The Creeps'', to favorites like ''Ball & Chain'', and Johnny Cash's ''Ring of Fire''. Recorded over two nights during one of the last Social D shows, before guitarist Dennis Danell's sudden death. A must for a true fan of one of the most innovating punk rock bands from Orange County.
