April 09, 2000: A celebration of trumpeters and drummers in the jazz tradition. Even in quality and excitement with 'Irvin Mayfield Sextet Live at the Blue Note', think of it as your second visit to the Blue Note after you saw the sextet the year before. Clifford Brown's 'Sandu' has been gorgeously rendered on this disk. Jaz Sawyer adds an original composition, the appropriately named, 'Hats & Sticks'. A must for any contemporary hard bop jazz enthusiast.
