Ben Harper's latest is a largely acoustic, soulful masterpiece completed in a Paris recording studio in just seven days with his band, the Innocent Criminals. Lifeline's beautifully direct lyrics and retro soul grooves recall Otis Redding, Bill Withers, and the Beggars Banquet-era Rolling Stones. The first single is the bluesy "In the Colors." October 12, 2007: Ben Harper has released a type of album not often found these days. "Lifeline" is short, simple, and perfect. While the majority of the disc is catchy, enjoyable songs, the final two are what makes this album stand out. They are the essence of what makes Ben Harper so loved by his fans. Paris Sunrise #7 is Ben playing acoustic slide. The song rises and falls, detours, then returns to the main path. This leads into the title track, "Lifeline". Ben, a guitar, and his haunting, soulful voice make this possibly one of his best songs, sure to be requested by fans again and again.

September 05, 2007: No matter what type of music you listen to, Harper will bring something that you will enjoy. Harper hits on so many genres of music from soul to rock to his solo acoustic that it is certain that this CD wont be collecting dust on your shelves. Amazing lyrics and some of the most amaing slide guitar since Dwayne Allman. Though recorded live the band still sounds amazingly tight. Buy this CD and/or go see him live and you wont be dissappointed.
