This is going to sound embarrassing, but I didn't know that Therion even existed until hearing a friend play one of their albums not too long ago. Only then did I realize just what I was missing out on, and after owning this two-CD set for about a month now, I must say that I'm glad to have found out about these guys. Indeed, the sound has a nice, dark quality that might not be for the feint of heart, but just right for fans of such metal bands as Iron Maiden, Dio, and Dragonship. I especially enjoyed the intensity of Typhon, the eldritch imagery of Uthark Runa, and the epic heroism illustrated by Three Ships Of Berik & quot both parts 1 and 2& quot --all of which are on the first disc, Lemuria. However, it's the second disc, Sirius B, that has my favorite song of them all: the deliciously dramatic Kali Yuga, Part 2 of which was exceptionally electrifying. In fact, the only really disappointing song out of the entire collection was Melek Taus & quot on Sirius B& quot , which started off great, but became very repetitive and irritating near the end. Of course, what made this collection so enjoyable was the broad range of mythological study that went into its songs, from Egyptian and Aztec religion & quot Son Of The Sun and Quetzalcoatl, respectively& quot to Scandinavian folklore and Hindu theology. Honestly, this extra feature is what makes this collection a must for any mythology buff, and I can honestly say that if you're as crazy about ancient legend as you are heavy metal, then there's no excuse not to buy this compilation. It just plain rocks!

Since yesterday I listened time and again these albums. After memorizing Secret of the Runes (another monumental masterpiece) I had thought I might have neen disappointed by the future work of Therion. On the contrary,I enjoy to the uppermost satisfaction of their obergeniusity. Highlights: Lemuria- 1)Typhoon (In ancient egyptian a god called Seth close to Satan, enemy amd murderer of Osiris (Beatiful God)) Magnificient! 2)Uthark Runa (Another Nordic Trend- Enigmatic Inscriptions emanating from Central Asia) Superb! 3)3 Ships of Berik (I propose this monumental song to be accepted or declared by Therion fans as an international anthem- In my opinion the leitmotif is the sudden invasion of Christian Rome by European Huns cropping up nowhere) Wunderbar! 4)Lemuria (Fraught with mystical emotions. Most sentimental)(Mozartian flute solo at the close of this song is bewitching)One can not refrain from shedding tears for this lamentation to the Sunken Continent. 5)Quetzalquatl (In Old Turkish Myths 'Kutsal Kaan' may be replaceable with this Mayan Wisdom God with pluming serpent (same depiction of Old Turkish Wisdom God) Nibiru planet may pass tangently at the insuniating year of 2012 given at the rhymes of this innuendo. 7)An arrow from the Sun (a gentle breeze blowing from Greece and Ancient Ellen accompanied with thrilling mandoline recital) Magnificient! 8)Abraxas (the adventures of Cain sealed by Yahweh) Striking and Pensive! 9)Prometheus Entfesselt (Similar to Enki (Sumerian God) who gave the humanity the science despite strict orders of jeaolus god 'Enlil' and mankind dispelled from Eden.) Sirius 1)Kingu (Struck me like the collision of Kingu (a satellite planet coming together with Nibiru) with the planet Tiamat and the Tablets of Destiny from Sumerian Myths) 2)A son of the sun (Most beautiful song)-Please read about heretic Pharaoh Akheneton who proclaimed the first monothetic religion 3)Khylisti Evangelist (Rasputin who enchanted the wife of Czar II Nicholas) Please mind the Russian inauguration of this song) Wonderful! 4)Persephone (Asthare,Isthare,Inanna,Isis,Kybele) Another masterpiece reminding us of past Aegean Civilization) Wonderful! 5)Kali Yuga (Second part is impressive) Great Harappan Civization! 6)Punt (Nubia Desert- Ham,Sem and Yasef the sons of Noah) Terrible! 7)Melek Taus (You will not saturate yourself enough however much you listen to this charming song!) 8)Call of Dagon (the Northwest African tribe who did know the existence of Sirius B at the beginning of this century) An experiment one must taste by listening to the call of Dagon! Splendid! 9)Sirius B (I still keep wondering how much Tibetan, Mongolian, Chinese, Japanese Buddhists, Turkish, Persian, Pakistani Sufis, Indigenous Peoples of American Continent, Hindus, Aborigins, Shamans will enjoy this transcendental masterpiece when they listen to) Sieg Heil to Therion! 10)Fourth Way (The close of curtain) A reminder from Secret of the Runes. A brilliant work.I immensely congratulate Therion, Guest Performers, Czech Philarmonic Orchester. Personally I am indebted to female voice. Thank you Beautiful Engaging Voice!
