About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

On their two prior albums, San Diego alterna-rock trio Switchfoot made a name for themselves with solid songcraft and a straightforward rock-'n'-roll sentiment. Learning to Breathe continues in that vein, using strong lyrics and melodic hooks to create its uniquely accessible sound. Their rather radical message this time around is that Christianity is a faith for the here and now, to be lived and expressed in this life on earth. Learning to Breathe opens with the challenging "I Dare You to Move," a song that throws down the lyrical gauntlet to live "like today never happened before," then reminds us throughout each song that all the trappings of the Christian faith -- love, forgiveness, redemption and salvation -- are things experienced now. It's not a new concept for Christian music but Switchfoot present their ideas in such a fresh, melodic way, we're happy to hear it again. Lisa Zhito, Barnes & Noble
