This collection of Latin American aural oddities was compiled by the folks at Sublime Frequencies, and includes such curious vinyl rarities as an excerpt from an Argentine recording of "Peter and the Wolf," some light rock remakes of popular classical melodies, traditional folk songs, and clips from a Peruvian instructional album for those who want to learn English. There are a few examples of solid Latin American rock & roll -- most notably Ventures-style instrumentals from Argentina's Los 4 Planetas and Chile's the Bates, and "Pequeño Salvaje" by Renos, which includes a long and frantic drum solo. And the compilers have included a few entertaining bits of difficult easy listening, most notably the Esquivel-on-a-budget of Marimba de la Direccion de Seguridid Publica de Chiapas, the helium-voiced critters of Tecnicas de Concentracion y Relajacion Yoga, and Citara Trio playing what most Americans will remember as "the Frito Bandito Song."
