About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Chrissie Hynde rebounds from the directionless Packed! with Last of the Independents, a tough album that proves she can mature without losing her edge. Most of the record crackles with the lean power of Learning to Crawl, occasionally stopping for a lushly produced number recalling Get Close. Although the record goes on a little too long and there are a couple of weak songs, particularly the anthemic "I'm a Mother," Last of the Independents re-establishes Hynde as a powerful and insightful rocker. October 20, 2002: This is a great album that will be a good addition to your music collection. Chrissie Hynde's voice is still as impassioned as ever, her song writing strong and the melodies memorable and edgy. This is hard rock at its best! The biggest hits are "Night in My Veins", "I'll Stand By You" and "Hollywood Perfume" but "Love Colours" and "Revolution" are just too good to be overlooked. Overall this is a great album that shows that even though Chrissie was well into her 40's at the time this album was made, she could still rock hard! EXCELLENT!
