Editorial Reviews

After doing more than its share of macho posturing in the mid-'90s, new jack R&B trio H-Town made a point of being more respectful to women on its third album, Ladies Edition. Hip-hop-influenced ballads and slow jams like "Ways to Treat a Woman," "Natural Woman," and the single "They Like It Slow" have a decidedly respectful tone, but for the most part, the Houston group avoids turning this CD into an exercise in preachy, whiny political correctness. Even if you spoke no English and didn't understand the poignant lyrics to "Julie Rain" (a sobering account of a woman who dies from spousal abuse) and "Jezebel" (which describes a single mother who turns to prostitution and drugs), it's obvious that these songs are examples of passionate R&B crooning. A definite improvement over H-Town's previous albums, Ladies Edition was one of the stronger "jeep soul" releases of late 1997. Alex Henderson, All Music Guide

July 09, 2007: This is a great CD! This CD is a perfect example of real R&B. Something that will hit the soul. H-Town is one of the best R&B group that hit the 90's. H-Town is my favorite R&B group. Dino and his voice will truly be miss. He has great talent.Rest in peace. On the real the CD is touching. H-Town music live 4 ever!!!

April 03, 2003: Though many people probably don't know, this is one of the top 5 R&B albums of the 90's. H-Town never got the credit they deserved. It's a trajedy that the lead singer, Dino passed away (along with his girlfriend) and it took a month and a half for me to even hear about it. They had just finished recording a comeback album when it happened, and I only hope it's still released. This album is priceless, and is their best ever.
