About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

It takes a rare artist to pull off kid-friendly tunes like “Ugly Duckling,” “Minute Waltz,” “Singin’ in the Bathtub,” and “A-Tisket, A-Tasket “ as well as more adult fare like “Getting to Know You,” “Soon It’s Gonna Rain,” “Not While I'm Around,” and “Rhode Island Is Famous for You” with equal aplomb. A strikingly versatile vocalist, Mandy Patinkin has long proven that there’s little you can throw at him that he can’t imbue with sincerity, charm, and passion. On a project specifically geared toward both kids and adults (hence “kidults”) Patinkin bridges the generation gap with heartfelt singing that seamlessly unites the disparate material. Interesting combinations of songs, (“Japanese Sandman” linked to Harry Chapin’s “Cat’s in the Cradle”), charming ditties that haven’t been heard in a while ("A" You’re Adorable”), and classics that just can’t be heard too often (“If I Only Had a Brain”) all make Kidults an unexpected treat for the whole family. November 03, 2002: Mandy has a ball with this album, and takes us along, back to our childhood. He also throws in some great new Broadway songs for the adult in us as well. Terrific album.
