This two-fer from Raven features a pair of Elvin Bishop LPs: Juke Joint Jump and Struttin' My Stuff, both originally issued on Capricorn in 1975. These albums could have been issued as a double set when they were initially released, as the tunes are very similar: good-time boogie, heavy on the clavinet and a funk influence that has more in common with Stevie Wonder than "Southern rock." The exception is the ballad "Fooled Around and Fell in Love," featuring future Starship vocalist Mickey Thomas, which reached number three on the charts. Stephen Stills also makes an appearance on acoustic guitar during the festive "Rollin' Home." Casual listeners should check this out along with Bishop's early work with the Paul Butterfield Blues Band in the '60s. Les Campbell, All Music Guide
