April 19, 2009: Grammy nomination album! This album captures the finest San Francisco Bay Area musicians as they worked with Mr. Williams in a two-day session at Skywalker Ranch - Lucasfilm, Marin County, CA. No ringers from another town here. Just local, world-class musicianship. Linda Ronstadt's "Cry Like A Rainstorm..." album (many of the same musicians), and this John Williams gem put the SF Bay Area on the major recording map for current film/album dates. Contracted by Greg Sudmeier, and Jeff Beal (now in LA writing for HBO's "Rome" series, Ugly Betty, Apaloosa, etc.), the Skywalker Symphony roared onto the playing field with this magnificent testament to the depth of the SF musical scene. This being the first digital recording the the StarWars suites, John Williams' music sounds as amazing now as it ever did. JW is a master, and this album is a combined masterpiece of writing/playing talent.
