About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

The smiling fish (a trout?) on the cover of Infinity captures the mood of Trout Fishing in America. The fish doesn't seem aware that five more fish are directly behind him, ready to make him part of the food chain. This is fun music for kids and adults. Who could resist singing along to "Junk Food Jump," a catchy tune that glorifies "Ice cream, potato chips, pie, and a coconut cake/Cotton candy, bubble gum, and a big strawberry shake"? Lou and Peter Berryman's "It's Better Than That" informs kids that being an adult is really -- so much more fun than they could imagine. "We have a chocolate éclair about as big as your head/Just before noon before we get out of bed." Trout Fishing in America is the accidental creation of Ezra Idlet and Keith Grimwood. They write most of their material together, sort of like Lennon and McCartney for children, and release their music on their own label, Trout Records. The great thing about Infinity is that with the exception of a little tree-hugging ("Everything That's Made of Wood"), the album is mostly free of "grown-up propaganda." That means it's just about being a kid and doing the things that kids do. Better yet, these guys make it all so much fun. For fans, Infinity is another winner; for those unfamiliar with Trout Fishing in America, this is a good album to start one's acquaintance. Ronnie D. Lankford Jr., All Music Guide
