July 21, 2009: I've always loved Paul Carrack's music when he was with Ace, then Squeeze, Mike and the Mechanics and even when he does solo work! He's got the most soulful voice I know. I think the "I Know That Name" CD is GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

July 20, 2009: This is an outstanding album - my favorite for 2009. Whether you are a new fan or long standing fan of Paul Carrack, you will find Paul's voice is better than ever. This album is definitely about the "song" - the telling of a story, the intimate sharing of emotion. These songs are so accessible, fresh and alive - you feel like a participant. A bit of old school heart and soul combined with contemporary production that is superb. Yet paying close attention and discipline to retain the "old school" production values - simple, elegant, well crafted with sincere seemingly effortless performances. Paul pays purposeful tribute to many styles of great music here - Motown, Philly, Reggae, Ska. His songs are aimed straight for the heart - very personal, heart felt and soulful. There are definite purposeful well crafted moments in each song where only someone with Paul's talent and experience can bring his vocal performance to a peak at just the right place for the song's crescendo - then a soulful release and refrain. Only a master craftsman can find the depth and nuance to create an audio landscape so full, vibrant and complete. This album is so refreshing and invigorating. If you only bought one album this year - this would be the one.
