About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Propelled by her guilty-pleasure MTV series, Jessica Simpson's lil' sis, Ashlee, topped the charts with her presumptuously titled debut, Autobiography. The decidedly edgier sibling's fledgling career high, however, was eclipsed by her lip-sync fiasco on Saturday Night Live. So with I Am Me, the younger Simpson obviously had more to overcome than the sophomore jinx -- a feat she surprisingly accomplishes with aplomb. In fact, Simpson's vocals, post media backlash, sound stronger, while her lyrics are as teen-angst earnest as ever. Musically, the disc is awash with '80s-style synths and swelling guitar riffs; "Dancing Alone" even plants the title of the Cure's "Just like Heaven" in the chorus. Other highlights include "Beautifully Broken," where the raspy singer addresses her humiliation with lines like, "It seems like yesterday my world fell from the sky / It seems like yesterday I didn't know how hard I could cry" and the danceable, Gwen Stefani–reminiscent "l.o.v.e.," which seems to address Simpson's incommunicado relationship with former boyfriend Ryan Cabrera. The punk-pop "Boyfriend" is rumored to be an open letter to actress Lindsay Lohan, denouncing the mean girl's claim that Simpson is dating Lohan's former beau, Wilmer Valderama. With I Am Me, Ashlee Simpson transforms her personal trials into her personal best. Tracy E. Hopkins, Barnes & Noble

August 16, 2009: Album is Great. I used to be a BIG fan of Ashlee Simpson-Wentz but ever since she has been hanging out with Nicole Richie, she seems like a whole nother person but Nicole is untalented and a waste so...Ashlee wake Up!!. I seen Ashlee in concert 12/12/05. For her "Boyfriend" tour. EVERY SONG on here is GOOD!!!

Ashlee is one of my favorite artist.by Anonymous
