On Mundo Civilizado, Arto Lindsay effected a successful fusion of American avant-rock, Brazilian pop and techno. On Hyper Civilizado, selected members of the techno elite return the compliment by remixing several tracks from Mundo Civilizado. It's a great idea...despite the inexplicable selection of only three album tracks to receive remix treatment. As radical as many of these deconstructions are, three versions of "Complicity" is probably two too many (though two of "Q Samba" is about right)...SPIT's version of "Complicity" is genuinely terrifying. So is the "M28 Mix" of "Complicity," on which SPIT collaborates with DJ Mutamassik, and which strips all of the vocal track form the original save the single word "violence." Sub Dub's take on "Q Samba" is a particular highlight...Recommended mostly for diehard techno-heads and Arto fans. Rick Anderson, All Music Guide
