Fernando Ortega turns his acoustic artistry to familiar hymns, offering gentle renditions of old favorites like "Pass Me Not," "All Creatures of Our God and King," and "Be Thou My Vision." Ortega isn't the first CCM artist to travel this path -- indeed, Amy Grant was perhaps the highest-profile artist to rediscover her roots on 2002's Legacy...Hymns & Faith. What Ortega does so well is apply his successful recipe of mellow compositions, acoustic instrumentation, and James Taylor–like vocals to these cherished tunes. The result is a peaceful collection of 11 songs that are meditative, inspirational, and beautifully presented.
