Southern rock stalwart Charlie Daniels brings his signature blues-country blend to traditional gospel on this two-CD set. Daniels released his first Christian/gospel collection with The Door back in 1994, and while that effort contained original material, Daniels travels a more well-worn path this time around. He's uncharacteristically restrained on such familiar material as "How Great Thou Art," "I'll Fly Away," "There Is Power in the Blood," and "The Old Rugged Cross," though some of his signature flourishes -- the bluesy guitar on "Amazing Grace," for instance, or the swaggering delivery of "Just a Closer Walk with Thee" -- still shine through. A nice touch is the backing vocals of the Bobby Jones Super Choir. Lisa Zhito, Barnes & Noble
