About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Since House of Fools is four-sixths ex-members of the Greensboro melodic rock outfit the Necessary, it's really no surprise (especially with the same singer) that the two bands resemble one another. But seeing as the Necessary was just about your standard-issue emo group, it does come as a shock at how inviting and memorable the warm indie pop/rock tunes of House of Fools are. Sounding like a cross between Crowded House, a happier Elliott Smith, and the Format, with a touch of the Polyphonic Spree's buoyant sunshine sprinkled on top, the sextet's self-titled debut EP is utterly charming and wholly likable -- playing almost as if the band recorded it from sitting atop a fluffy cloud. Whether with the gentle piano toying that breaks out into handclaps and buoyant vocals during the uplifting "Let's Follow" or the acoustic singer/songwriter charm of "Better Part of Me," the EP's five songs breeze dreamily along with a wide-eyed optimism that wants only to spread joy and comfort to tired ears. The music is just so appealing that even overly earnest moments -- as during the brightness of "My Life Before Today" when Josh King proclaims, "So I guess I'll pretend to fit in/But it always just leaves me empty/So I'm doing my best/My best just to be me" -- are easily forgiven. If five songs can sound this effortlessly delightful, consider expectations sufficiently raised for their forthcoming full-length. Corey Apar, All Music Guide

November 06, 2006: House Of Fools is a band with a very unique and different sound. As part of Drive-Thru Records, House Of Fools have just released their debut self titled EP. I awaited the release of this EP weeks before it was released on October 17, 2006. The EP opens with a track titled "Live And Learn". This is a slow piano ballad that progresses into a full on rock song by the end of the 5 minute track. Following this track is a track titled "Let's Follow". This is a fun song that makes me want to just sign along. The EP continues on with songs such as "My Life Before Today", "Better Part of Me", and "Get Happy". With a total of five beautifully written and perfectly put together songs, this EP would definitely be my number one favorite release of 2006 so far. I not only suggest, but URGE you to purchase this EP. At this awesome low price, you get an amazing, one of a kind, masterpiece of incredibly original rock music. You can't beat the low price for such high quality music. It's truely an amazing EP and I would highly reccommend it to anyone who has an open mind and a love for great original music. :)
