March 01, 2007:
From the opening snare shot of "Like A Rolling Stone" to the last harmonica note of the 11 minute epic "Desolation Row" Dylan made himself an icon of music and American pop culture. This history making recording deserves all the lavish credit it gets. It's introspection, humor, cynicism, and the sheer energy of Dylan's nasal vocals leaves an immediate and powerful impression. This album influences music and pop culture to this day, and even though his cryptic lyrics steal the show, the music ain't bad either. Dylan's lyrics are beautiful because you can interpret them however you like. Every song is unique and he never gets boxed into any particular style. Music like this will never be made again, so if you want to take a mind blowing 51 minute trip into bliss, I suggest you pick up music I'd love to be lost on a desert island with.
