April 22, 2002: Jeff Healey's Hell to Pay gets my vote for one of the best albums of all time. With great rock songs, hot guitar playing, and solid production, its a wonder that Jeff and his band aren't major stars. Maybe he's content to run his club in Toronto, but with recordings like this one in his catalog, and his energy as a live performer, you are missing out on a great experience is you aren't familiar with Jeff Healey. For some reason this CD reminds me of Huey Lewis and the News, and you know how big they were. Put a little harder edge on the rockin' songs, keep the great slower ballad tunes, and theres no reason this CD couldn't have sold like Huey, and made Jeff Healey a huge star. Healey's guitar playing is right on, and his voice has the unique flavor that is instantly recognizable.
